MUNGMUNG's Debut Album 'BOUJEE BBY' Has Arrived

The 15-track project seamlessly blends warm R&B with energetic hip-hop, and features other artists of the moment among the likes of BOY SODA and 1300.

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for—MUNGMUNG's debut album Boujee Bby is here.

On the highly anticipated record, MUNGMUNG takes inspiration from the early 2000s RnB and hip-hop she grew up listening to. The 15-track project also features other artists of the moment, Boy Soda and 1300.

So far this year she’s released two singles, “PRINCE CHARMING” in March and “ATTITUDE PROBLEM” featuring1300 in May.

The Sydney-based artist has taken large strides en route to pop stardom over the last few years. She’s loved by fans for her boldness, and spreading her culture through her music.

Complex AU sat down with MUNGMUNG to discuss their new album at a Converse writing camp in Byron Bay. The camp was held exclusively for members of the Converse All Stars creative community, which MUNGMUNG joined in 2022.

“Being an All Star has been amazing. [Converse] have given me so many opportunities, it’s been great to have their support.”

Speaking of the album she said, “It’s an extension of what listeners know of me so far”.

Her MAIN CHARACTER EP was released last year in March, but Boujee Bby will showcase a completely different side of her. “This album bears a bit more of me. I think with my EP and some of the current stuff I have out, it’s kind of more digestible, almost pop/hip-hop”.

“On this album there’s more of an RnB pocket. I delved more into hip-hop and RnB on this album, and I want this to lay the foundations for the sound of future music as well.”

Last year was a busy one for MUNGMUNG – she released a string of popular singles including “BBE” and “medicine”, played her first headline show, and was part of the acclaimed line-up at Big Sound.

With her debut album’s recent arrival, her life as a Converse All Star, and a string of shows to close out the year, she shows no signs of slowing down.
