Detroit rapper Obie Trice is entering a new chapter in his career, and this time, he’s linking up with one of the most recognizable names in sports.

The veteran MC has officially signed with Conor McGregor’s Greenback Records, with his first release under the banner, TBH [To Be Honest], arriving on Friday (Sept. 12).

Trice made his mark in the early 2000s as part of Eminem’s Shady Records camp, scoring a double-platinum debut with Cheers and delivering fan favorites like Got Some Teeth. His voice also became synonymous with the 8 Mile soundtrack, cementing his place in Detroit hip-hop history.

McGregor, meanwhile, has spent the past several years leveraging his UFC superstardom into ventures outside the octagon, from whiskey to fashion, and now, music. Signing an established lyricist like Obie Trice signals that Greenback Records is looking to make a serious imprint, not just headline-grabbing stunts.

While details about the length of the deal or potential album plans remain under wraps, the rollout for TBH suggests McGregor’s camp is putting significant resources behind Trice’s comeback. Fans can already pre-save the single on streaming platforms, with more music expected to follow.

Whether this collaboration is a one-off or the beginning of a full project run, Obie and McGregor are mixing the worlds of hip-hop and combat sports in an unexpected way.
