Kanye West is doubling down on his foray into cryptocurrency, confirming that fans will now be able to use his “YZY” coin to purchase concert tickets and merchandise.

West launched the coin in August as part of a larger financial ecosystem he’s calling “YZY Money,” which also includes Ye Pay and the YZY Card.

The rollout initially generated major buzz, with the token’s value surging to more than $3 billion before tumbling to around $349 million. Its current market value remains unclear.

Despite the rocky start, West appears committed to pushing the project forward. Over the weekend, screenshots of posts from the official YZY Money account on X, shared by the Instagram account Bars, showed the rapper announcing new ways for fans to use the coin.

West revealed that the crypto will soon be purchasable directly through Yeezy.com. He also told a fan that they could use YZY coin to buy tickets to his upcoming South Africa concert. Additionally, his online shop has begun accepting the token for merchandise purchases.

The move comes against a backdrop of skepticism, as many celebrities have previously been criticized for attaching their names to “memecoins” and alleged pump-and-dump schemes, where a small group drives up the price before cashing out and leaving investors at a loss. Critics voiced similar concerns when YZY coin debuted, but the project has managed to stay alive months after its initial dip.

For West, the coin is part of a larger push to create a self-sustaining financial ecosystem around his brand. “YZY Money” marks the latest in a long line of unpredictable ventures for the Grammy winner, who has shifted over the years between music, fashion, politics, and tech.

Still, with cryptocurrency’s volatile track record, it remains to be seen whether YZY coin will have staying power or fade out like so many other celebrity-backed tokens.

ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
