Desiigner surprised fans with a new freestyle that's making waves online for its lyrical skill and composed delivery instead of his usual turn-up energy.
The freestyle, originally shared by producer @beatsbydomingo on Instagram, shows the "Panda" hitmaker calmly spitting bars over a hard-hitting beat, a far cry from the wild, animated flow fans once associated with him.
People online took notice after an X user reposted the clip with the caption: "NAH DESIIGNER IS BACK AND HES RAPPIN RAPPIN WHAAAAAT."
The comments section lit up with reactions from fans who were both shocked and amused by the rapper's new sound.
"Bruh this either A.I. or Freddie Gibbs stop playin," one user joked. Another poked fun at Desiigner's famously unorthodox delivery, saying, "The bars are aight. I'm just happy he's rapping in English and not like that kid from The Wild Thornberrys."
"Should have been rapping like this 10 years ago," another fan added.
The buzz comes over a year after Desiigner's past resurfaced thanks to 50 Cent, who revisited the rapper's awkward 2017 Funkmaster Flex freestyle following a brief social media feud.
In a post on Instagram, 50 shared the old video of Flex looking puzzled as Desiigner rapped. "Sometimes you don't have to say anything at all," Fif said. "OK, moving right along!"
Desiigner didn't let that slide: He responded with a photo of 50 Cent flipping off the camera on his Instagram Stories. The two had already traded jabs after 50 revealed on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast that he once passed on signing Desiigner.
"I can't give that n***a that money," Fif said at the time. "Let them give him whatever they're gonna give him."
Desiigner clapped back with a fiery freestyle aimed at both 50 and DJ Akademiks, rapping, "N***as talkin' that 50 Cent, I be talking fifty mil'... I got signed to Kanye, lil n***a, you was never worth a deal."
