Demi Lovato's newborn niece died after the singer's youngest sister went through an emergency C-section.

On Saturday, Lovato's sister, Madison De La Garza, shared a post on her Instagram in honor of her first child, who died after she went through an emergency C-section last month.

"On the evening of September 27th, after an emergency c-section, Ryan and I held our little girl for the first and last time," Garza wrote. "Thank you, Xiomara, for making us parents to the most perfect angel in heaven. Mommy and Daddy love you sweet girl."

Lovato chimed in the comment section with a touching message to her niece that read, "I love you so much Xiomara. An angel in every sense of the word. I'll be your auntie forever. 💔."

They also shared a message in her Instagram Stories that read, "RIP to my beautiful, perfect niece Xiomara. I'm so grateful I got to hold you. I'll forever be your auntie." She tagged Madison and wrote to her: "I love you so much."

Lovato appears in the new Hulu documentary Child Star, in which she reflects on her upbringing in the entertainment industry. At one point in the film, Lovato admitted she didn't know her explosive moments had a negative impact on her mental health.

"I didn't realize that it would have such a negative impact on my mental health," said the 32-year-old. "And unfortunately, sometimes that looks explosive, like an incident where you punch your backup dancer on an airplane or you overdose from heroin."
