Less than a week after Sabrina Carpenter slammed the Trump administration for using her song in a video promoting ICE raids, the White House posted another video using a clip of the singer.
This time, the video showed a moment from Carpenter’s Saturday Night Live appearance when she joked about arresting cast member Marcello Hernández for being too “hot.”
The bit was a nod to her playful arrests of celebrities during her Short n' Sweet Tour.
The White House’s version of the video posted on Friday (Dec. 5) doctored Hernández to say “illegal” instead of “hot” before promoting clips of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents violently arresting individuals.
Last week, Carpenter blasted President Donald Trump and the White House for using her song “Juno” over clips of protesters and people being placed in handcuffs. The video was captioned with the lyric, “Have you ever tried this one?”
“This video is evil and disgusting,” Carpenter wrote on X in response to the clip. “Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”
The White House removed the clip and uploaded the new one a few days later with the caption, “PSA: If you’re a criminal illegal, you WILL be arrested & deported.”
The original “Juno” clip was also reshared on the administration’s social media accounts.
Carpenter isn’t the only celebrity to criticize President Donald Trump’s administration for co-opting content to promote ICE’s raids on immigrants. Olivia Rodrigo slammed the Department of Homeland Security after a video used her song “All American Bitch” over a video encouraging immigrants to “self-deport.”
“Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda,” Rodrigo wrote in November.
