Desiigner Says His 'F*ck NY Radio' Tweet Was a 'B*tch Moment'

Desiigner visited 'The Breakfast Club' to talk his anti-NY radio tweet, being arrested, and comparisons to Future.

While Desiigner's post-"Panda" material has been kinda weird, he's still making waves, including everywhere from Bill Nye's new Netflix show to the latest single from Mura Masa. Towards the end of April, though, he was in the news for a different reason: tweeting (then deleting) "Fuck NY RADIO" with four middle finger emojis.

During a recent, animated appearance on The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne tha God point-blank asked Desiigner why he sent that tweet, and Desiigner kept it a buck. "Because, I want more play," Desiigner responded, "and that's it." Digging deeper, Charlamagne asked Desiigner if he felt his other singles didn't get the same play as "Panda."

"Definitely," Desiigner said. It sounds like he felt that while he's representing New York City when he's in places like Australia, he's not getting the same love from the radio stations in his city, which is respectable. Angela Yee did point out that this was the first time he'd even been to Power 105.1 to talk to them, to which Desiigner replied, "It wasn't my fault. It really was me being busy and me supporting the city," and that now that his schedule is less hectic, and he's working on his album (which he mentions will be out in July), he has the time to reach out.

DJ Envy opened up, telling Desiigner that he didn't feel that DJs dug anything he dropped after "Panda," but they supported the "Panda" record early and often. Desiigner responded by saying he understood that, which is why he ended up taking the tweet down. "It was just on some, like, it probably was a bitch moment." He said it wasn't his "vibe," and he did admit that "the way I came in the game was so devastating, I didn't know I had to actually be in front of ya'll face." Again, respectable, especially since Desiigner is so young and so new.

Oh, and for anyone still stuck on comparing Future to Desiigner, he let it be known that "that's my swag." He also spoke on his arrest in New York City from September of 2016. Check the full interview up above for more manic Desiigner insanity.
