Drake and Future Cleared of Charges Over Alleged Rape at Their Concert

A Tennessee judged as dismissed the charges against Drake and Future in a $25 million rape case on Wednesday. As People reports, the rappers were dismissed without prejudice. However, other defendants in the case aren’t in the clear.

According to court documents, an anonymous female accuser referred to only as “Jane Doe” alleges she was raped at a Drake and Future concert in Nashville on Aug. 14, 2016 by one of the Bridgestone Arena’s security guards. The plaintiff claimed that Drake and Future (aka Aubrey Drake Graham and Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, respectively) demonstrated negligence in the alleged attack, because, as she alleges, her attacker had outstanding warrants for assault at the time of her alleged rape.

Therefore, the woman contends that the rappers, the arena, touring companies, and the security company should have been aware that Johnson “pose[d] an unreasonable risk to others.” The woman is seeking $25 million in damages, plus court costs in the case, which is still ongoing.

The woman says that the security guard in question, identified as Leavy Johnson, offered to take her backstage. She followed Johnson, and that’s when he “suddenly...pushed Jane Doe to the ground and violently assaulted her, shattering her cell phone and causing severe physical and psychological injury.” Johnson was charged and is awaiting trial on the matter.
