There’s one thing you can always count on: game recognize game. That’s why it’s not very surprising that Denzel Washington, one of the greatest actors of our time, is also a fan of Cardi B. The Root caught up with him recently and asked him about the Bronx rapper, and he immediately knew exactly what the interviewer was talking about.

Without even being prompted, Denzel started rapping some of the most memorable lines from one of Cardi's biggest hits. He basically had one line from "Bodak Yellow" in his head, namely: “I let him get what he want/he buy me Yves Saint Laurent/and a new whip.” He even imitated a little bit of Cardi’s flow as he rapped the lines, which is truly a treat.

The best part of the video, though, might actually be how smug Denzel is that he knows Cardi and a few lines from her biggest song. The dude is 63 years old, which, admittedly, might be beyond the target age range of “Bodak Yellow,” but Denzel’s “I know what the kids are up to” attitude is very cool.

Denzel also had some sage advice for the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. “Stay true to herself. Don’t believe the hype. Keep it real, for real,” he said.

In case you’re wondering: yes, Cardi has seen the clip. She said she’s taken the advice, and is staying true to herself.
