Trippie Redd Says Hackers Demanded $1 Million Ransom for His Music

It seems Trippie Redd has a hacking problem.

While speaking to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, the Ohio-born rapper spoke about his newly released album, Mansion Musik, and its unfinished sound. Lowe specifically pointed to the mix of “Krzy Train,” a Travis Scott-assisted track that garnered mixed reactions.

“Every time I read people talking about this album, and they’re complimentary, but they’re like, ‘What’s up with the mix on ‘Krzy Train?’ I don’t understand why it sounds like that,’” the host said.

Trippie admitted that the was sound unintentional, as he simply didn’t have enough time to properly mix the record. Why? Because he was allegedly targeted by hackers.

“I ain’t really speak on it, but I’m going to speak on it,” Trippie began. “I was held for ransom on my project. They wanted me to pay them a million dollars because they had all my records. Every single last one. All the features. Some hackers, they had all my songs, so I had to rush the project out.”

He went on to say that the final version of “Krzy Train” is pretty much what Scott had sent to him, because his engineer never mixed it. Trippie said he felt pressure to drop the album as soon as possible, fearing the hackers would beat him to the punch.

“I had to run with it because if I didn’t, the whole project was going to release and it would’ve been a big thing,” he explained, before touching on his previous hacking incidents. “And this has been a big thing. They have been hacking and leaking shit like crazy, at least my last two, three albums. I don’t know how they do it.”

Trippie continued: “I was like, ‘If I don’t drop it now, then it’s going to be out there and they’re going to hear it regardless. They’re going to hear the bad mix regardless, so I’m going to put it out unmixed and see what they think.’”

The rapper reassured listeners that the album would be fixed and each track would be worked on.

“Yeah, the album did leak, actually, too. I work through anything. Got got the last laugh, you feel me?” he said. “Like the devil going to throw so much at you, you can’t really let it bother you. Just take the bruises, you’ll heal eventually.”

Mansion Musik arrived on Jan. 20, more than a year after the artist unleashed its predecessor, Trip at Knight. The album spanned 25 tracks and was filled with big-name guest artists, including Lil Baby, Chief Keef, Future, Ski Mask the Slump God, Kodak Black, and the late Juice WRLD.
