It’s the day Snoop Dogg fans have been waiting for—his 20th studio album, Missionary, has finally arrived.
The Death Row Records boss unleashed the project on Friday, December 13, more than two years after delivering its predecessor, BODR. Snoop teased the effort during a 2022 appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s Know Mercy podcast, saying it would be produced by his longtime friend and collaborator, Dr. Dre.
“I’mma tell you this, you’re the first one to hear this — me and Dr. Dre have been working on an album for the past two months,” he told Smith, as reported by Revolt. “And it’ll be done in November… And the name of the album is Missionary.”
The album spans 16 tracks and includes guest appearances by Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, Jelly Roll, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Jhené Aiko. You can stream the album now on all major platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
Missionary arrives more than 30 years after Snoop released his debut studio album, Doggystyle, produced by Dr. Dre. Snoop reflected on their latest music collaboration in an interview with the Associated Press, explaining how he and Dre have evolved over the past few decades.
“We were just playing on our raw ability, and it worked … But now you’re dealing with professionals who are like perfectionists and skilled at what they do,” he said. “It’s like you don’t have to speak. Your work speaks for you now as opposed to you knocking on doors. Now, people are opening doors. They understand who I am as a person and what my love vessel is and that makes them want to get next to me.”
