Digital Nas is calling out the “vultures.”
The Atlanta-born producer on Wednesday delivered a scathing rant over his involvement in “Carnival,” a 2024 track off Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1 project.
Digital Nas began by sharing a purported email in which music executive Matt Geffen questioned Digital Nas’ contributions to the Grammy-nominated single. According to the message, Digitial Nas wasn’t credited on the song because its producers—Traxster, 88-Keys, and Morning Estrada—“were not able to verify” his involvement.
But Digital Nas claims he was very involved in the Playboi Carti-assisted track and deserved recognition.
“I’ma give y’all n****s context to how these vulture-ass n****s work,” he said in a video. “Fritz [Owens, recording engineer] text me, ‘Ye and Carti need you,’ the night ‘Carnival’ was finished… I go there, [they say] ‘Nas, what do we need done to ‘Carnival’?’ I tell them n****s everything that needs to be done, told Ye to change his verse. Boom, boom, boom.”
Digital Nas, who is credited on the Vultures’ track “Paperwork,” said the industry is full of predatory figures who take advantage of talented people. He even encouraged aspiring artists to pursue another career path.
“If you want to make music, bro, don’t do it. Go be a doctor, go be a lawyer, it’s not worth it,” he said. “These n****s are fighting over crumbs. ‘Carnival’ made $47,000 publishing. These n****s is old as fuck, don’t have no talent, but they use young n****s, they use their sound, they use what they do.
“When it’s small records like ‘Paperwork,’ ‘Oh yeah, leave Nas on that,’” he continued. “But when it’s big records that went number one, ‘Nah, he ain’t do shit on that.’ Fuck all y’all n****s.”
Digital Nas went on to say that his frustration had nothing to do with money but was “about morals, principle, and respect.”
“Y’all used to doing this to n****s,” he said. “Y’all not gon’ do this to me, man.”
