Premiere: Blade Brown Calls Up Benny The Butcher For New Heater “Blue Marlin”

This one sounds expensive.

Blade Brown, the UK rap legend, returns with his latest single, “Blue Marlin”, enlisting Benny The Butcher for a weighty transatlantic link-up.

Fresh from shutting down “Ibiza” with AJ Tracey and linking with Chase & Status on “Doin’ It More”, the kingpin of UK trap is back, loaded with all the inspirational hustler talk he’s become renowned for. New drop “Blue Marlin” pairs South London’s Blade with Buffalo-NYC’s Benny—a calculated play that bridges LDN’s street hustle with Griselda’s coke-rap wave. “This one is for the rap connoisseurs,” says Blade. “Working with Benny made perfect sense.”

Named after the luxury beach club found in Ibiza and Dubai, “Blue Marlin”—co-produced by KZE and Ty—plays like fine dining for the hustler’s ear: polished, but still grounded in the grit that defines Blade’s sound. The track serves as the lead single from Blade’s forthcoming, currently untitled album, marking his first solo project since 2019’s Bags & Boxes 4. His most recent full-length drop was the collaborative Joints mixtape with K-Trap in 2022. Although no official title or release date has been announced, Blade has hinted at a solid line-up of features, including Master P, Nines, Potter Payper “and more.”

While we wait for more on that highly-anticipated new project, press play on the BDOT-directed visuals for “Blue Marlin” above, and be sure to add the song to your playlists.
