Two urban adult contemporary radio stations in the Charlotte, North Carolina area have decided to remove R. Kelly from their respective playlists, according to WBTV. WOSF-FM and WBAV-FM made the announcement as the singer continues to face heat amid the resurfacing of sexual abuse accusations made against him throughout the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R. Kelly.

WOSF-FM operations manager Jeff Anderson considers pulling Kelly’s music from their station as simply doing the right thing, especially in light of the increased awareness towards women’s issue. "I just don’t think it’s in the best interest to play R. Kelly - just based on the accusations that have come about - that haven’t been answered for and just for the controversy surrounding it," Anderson said.

Anderson says WOSF-FM hasn't received any backlash from their fans over the decision to cut Kelly's music out. "I believe especially the female community," he adds. "They are up in arms. They don't really want that support there. They expect that we would be a community leader. We are here to serve the community first and foremost - be a voice." Last month, two notable Dallas radio stations—KRNB and K104—vowed to never play Kelly’s music again, claiming that they cannot support him considering the allegations.

The Lifetime docu-series has managed to elicit a response from many avenues. Sony cut ties with Kelly last month. A number of artists have pulled their songs which feature the controversial singer. There are even U.S. cities where he is no longer welcome.
