Offset revealed on his Instagram Stories Sunday, that his great uncle has died from complications related to COVID-19. "Smfh this corona shit done killed my great uncle," he wrote. "Rip uncle Jerry damn man."
In another one of his Stories, Offset added, "Pray for my family."
Offset’s wife, Cardi B, has been quite outspoken in wake of the coronavirus pandemic in a variety of ways. Early last month, Cardi posted a video where she candidly expressed her concerns about the virus, and its impact on her life and health. The clip went viral and has since been excessively remixed.
Cardi also touched upon the COVID-19 pandemic with former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on IG Live earlier this week, and criticized the Trump administration for prioritizing other personal interests over the well-being of American citizens. "They put capitalism, money, trading, goods, before our health," she said.
Offset pulled back the curtain on his own family issues last year, sharing the touching moment when he met his father for the first time in person in 23 years.
Offset said in an interview on The Breakfast Club that he last saw his father when he was four years old.
