Method Man Disagrees With the Idea That Diddy’s Indictment Means the Downfall of Hip-Hop

Sean "Diddy" Combs was charged with sex trafficking and racketeering earlier this week.

Method Man does not believe the sudden downfall of Diddy represents the death of hip-hop.

TMZ recently caught up with the Wu-Tang Clan rapper outside of ABC Studios in New York City to get his thoughts on the claim that the genre has gone down with the disgraced mogul after he was charged with sex trafficking and racketeering earlier this week.

"I don't think that it has anything to do with hip-hop," Meth responded. "What are we talking about really?"

Method said he does not see a correlation between the two, pointing out how people have willingly separated the person from the artist, in the case of R. Kelly.

"It has nothing to do with hip-hop...at all," Meth said of Diddy's indictment. "So, I don't see the correlation whatsoever. If we're talking about creative and music and stuff like that, there's still people listening to R. Kelly shit."

Sean Combs was taken into federal custody Monday night and charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. If convicted, Diddy faces at least 25 years, if not longer. The 54-year-old submitted a $50 million bail package that involved offering his $48 million Star Island mansion, as well as his mother’s $2 million Miami home as collateral, but the proposal was denied.

Diddy will remain behind bars until the trial.
