Tina Knowles’ Mama Tina’s Gumbo stand was reopened on Wednesday after being shut down by the Houston Health Department two days earlier.
The agency said in a statement, obtained by KPRC 2 Click 2 Houston, that the booth at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was temporarily closed on Monday (March 16) due to “a complaint investigation.”
“The vendor was cooperative with the department’s recommendations and passed a subsequent inspection,” the statement reads. “It was authorized to reopen on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.”
The rodeo also released a statement, saying Mama Tina’s Gumbo “worked closely” with the Houston Health Department to “address the identified clerical issues.”
Ms. Tina announced that her gumbo stand was headed to the Houston Rodeo on Instagram last month.
Ms. Tina recently spoke with ABC13 Houston about her chicken and sausage gumbo, as well as her personal favorite, the seafood option, which is cooked between 16 and 18 hours.
LeToya Luckett and Bun B are among those who have stopped by to give her gumbo a try.
