DJ Khaled sat down with Joe La Puma to show off his extensive watch collection on the latest episode of Complex Presents On Display.
With too many watches to even count on display on the table in front of him and La Puma, Khaled revealed how he got his hands on the rare Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked "Cactus Jack," which he refers to as "They Said I Couldn't Get It, So I Got It."
The nickname seemingly stems from Khaled reaching out to Travis and Michael Rubin about getting on the list to acquire the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar "Cactus Jack," of which only 200 pieces were made. Khaled said he ultimately received the watch, with an estimated value of $500,000, through motivation and inspiration.
After taking a moment to offer up some advice on shooting the B-roll, Khaled got down to business, showing off a his and hers set that he nicknamed "Thank God It's Called His and Hers." Khaled moved onto two APs that he calls "Rare" and "It's Personal." The latter is an AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar "Ceramic Blue," estimated at a value of $460,000.
"I'm not gonna say his name, but he knows. He promised me this, so when I got it, I call it, 'It's Personal,'" he said of the nickname for the "Ceramic Blue."
Khaled revealed he got the Rolex Daytona 116578SACO in Yellow Gold after seeing it on 21 Savage's wrist while sitting courtside at a Miami Heat home game. Khaled named his own piece "21 Savage" after the man who inspired him to buy one.
"You don’t realize you’re collecting something until you fall in love with something," Khaled said. "You just realize in time that you want more and more, and then you start wanting more rare. Once I fall in love with something, I start going into this collective mode, and that’s what happened with the watches."
