DaBaby earned his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Kirk, the follow-up to his debut studio effort Baby on Baby, which was also released earlier this year. His sophomore effort saw just 8,000 of that sum come from traditional album sales.

DaBaby's latest project snagged 145,000 equivalent album units, nearly exceeding its first week projections of 130,000-150,000 units. Kirk did just enough to outperform Hollywood's Bleeding by Post Malone, which finished in second after amassing 124,000 units despite experiencing a 17 percent drop in sales in its second week.

Kirk has proven to be a vast improvement in sales in comparison to Baby on Baby, which only peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, and has moved 719,000 equivalent album units since its release on March 1. DaBaby's performance on the charts is a testament to his ever-increasing popularity in light of a number of accomplishments, including his platinum-selling single "Suge," collaborations with Malone, Lil Nas X, and Megan Thee Stallion, and an appearance on this year's XXL Freshman Class list.

DaBaby revealed to the L.A. Leakers late last month that as his star has continued to rise, the demand for a feature verse has helped him significantly raise his asking price. "It's six digits," he said. "God is great. It's six of 'em. It's six digits at least."
