Beanie Sigel Reveals How He Sharpened His Culinary Skills in Prison

His food truck Grab & Roll, Wings & Bowls can be found in Philadelphia.

Beanie Sigel and his siblings started a food truck called Grab & Roll, Wings & Bowls, featuring dishes created by the Philadelphia rapper.

In a recent conversation with Mina SayWhat, Beanie discussed his time in prison and how he developed cooking skills that eventually led to his food truck business.

He also explained that the idea of a food truck started because he grew "antsy" and impatient about embarking on a separate business venture with his brother. The initial plan was to have pop-ups here and there on the weekend, but as Sigel recalled, "We did one and couldn't stop."

Beanie revealed he managed to hone his culinary skills in prison. "When I went away, one of my stints, I ain’t sit on my hands," he said. "I had to do my bid, so I took up culinary."

The 50-year-old said he already knew how to cook, but he was able to get certifications during his time behind bars.

"I just wanted the certifications and then it kept me busy and it helped me eat better," he explained. "I ain't cook for the prisoners. I cooked for the guards. They eat different."

Beanie was especially proud of the Bully Burger, which he helped construct.
