The Sugababes Turned A Virgin Atlantic Flight Into A Full-Blown Pop Moment

A casual day for Mutya, Keisha and Siobhán.

More than two decades after helping define British pop, the Sugababes are proving they can still stop people in their tracks—this time, in the air at 35,000 feet.

Following years of line-up changes, solo projects and a hugely celebrated reunion, the original trio—Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy—reunited in recent years to reclaim their place as one of the UK’s most iconic girl groups, and now they’ve added another first to their comeback story: performing a live concert aboard a Virgin Atlantic flight, streamed globally using Starlink Wi-Fi.

The exclusive performance took place on Tuesday night (May 26) aboard a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350, with the group transforming the airline’s Upper Class social space, The Loft, into a stage above the clouds. Fans watching live via Instagram and TikTok were treated to performances of classics including “Push The Button”, “Too Lost In You” and “About You Now”, alongside an onboard Q&A where viewers could submit requests in real time.

“We always said the sky was the limit—turns out, it’s just the beginning,” the group said in a statement. “Taking live music to the skies and turning an airplane into a global stage is unlike anything we’ve ever done. The idea that fans around the world can experience it with us in real time makes it even more surreal.”

The performance also marked a major showcase for Virgin Atlantic’s rollout of Starlink-powered in-flight Wi-Fi, which promises high-speed connectivity across the airline’s fleet by 2027. “This isn’t just about introducing Wi-Fi; it’s about showing what it can do,” said Virgin Atlantic Chief Customer Officer Juha Jaervinen. “We’re demonstrating the power of Starlink to deliver a seamless, high-quality connection in the air.”
