Watch Vince Staples' Nabil-Directed Short Film for "Prima Donna"

Fresh off the release of his Prima Donna EP, Vince Staples comes through with the short film for the project that blends songs together into one surreal trip.

Directed by Nabil, the short film draws upon the same themes of the EP including celebrity, society, and Staples' own view of the world—and follows Staples on his own journey as he checks into an eerie Prima Donna hotel, gets followed by fans who appear as a figment of his imagination, and really gets into some twisted moments when he runs into the late Tupac and Amy Winehouse in the hallway.

Speaking to Zane Lowe about making the EP, Staples went into his thought process when creating on the new project. "I worked hard on it...On just trying to have stories to tell people. Honesty is easy. The stories—that's the hard part," he said. The resulting project analyzed and picked apart the status of celebrity in this society, which is a clear representation on Staples' view of things. "You’re not a person when you make music. You’re a link. They just want to click it. It get’s kinda crazy out here."
