The Weeknd just dropped a musical bomb on Instagram, previewing what sounds like a Cashmere Cat collaboration with a short clip and a simple cat emoji to signify its importance.
On the quick preview, lush instrumentation and plucked synths give way to The Weeknd's signature falsetto.
Earlier this week, a Republic Records executive broke the news that The Weeknd is set to hit the studio with Daft Punk. Of course, The Weeknd is signed to Republic, so it's likely that the insider news has more to do with a future Weeknd release, which could mean he is already working on his next project and that the clip is a taste of what he is cooking up.
However, Cashmere hit up Instagram Tuesday to alert his fans that the first song from his new album will be arriving this coming Friday. It's likely Weeknd's clip could be the same song that Cashmere was hinting at, which means the clip might actually be for a Cashmere Cat project.
