2Pac's hip-hop legacy continues to live on through his music, but now his fans can also own a piece of history from the late artist thanks to a tremendous new collection being sold at Goldin Auctions.
One of the most expensive items is a handwritten essay. Titled "Is Thug Life Dead?," the pages were originally sent to Death Row Records' Nina Bhadreshwar to be printed as a message to youth, but it was never published. "I did not begin thug life. I just personified it," 2Pac wrote. "I couldn't stop it if I tried but in my heart the thug ni**a has advanced 2 be a Boss Playa. So No Thug Life is Not Dead but in my heart it is. If U are sharp u will learn from this." The essay is currently going for $11,000.
Other noteworthy highlights include handwritten lyrics for "Catchin Feelings" and "Wonda Why They Call U Bitch" along with the platinum plaque for Me Against the World. There's also a handwritten letter to a childhood friend from 1988, his 1991 signed contracts for Juice and Poetic Justice, and more.
This is not nearly the first time original items that belonged to 2Pac have gone on sale to the general public. Previously, everything from the artist's lyrics to personal notes and poems written to a girl in high school have popped up on the internet. Only a few days ago, the bible that the late rapper had while at the Clinton Correctional Facility in 1995 went up for auction for $54,000.
