UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: Diane Warren has responded to Linda Perry's earlier comments on Twitter — kind of. She doesn't flatly deny or confirm Perry's claims, but instead writes, "'Til It Happens To You' was written for The Hunting Ground, an incredibly powerful documentary about sexual assault on college campuses. The song is the result of a special collaboration between myself and Lady Gaga. To you was inspired by the countless survivors of abuse who need our support and love so they know they're not alone." Lady Gaga has not commented on the matter.

The Lady Gaga comeback train continued to roll on in full force last week when the singer earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for her work on "Til It Happens To You." The song, co-written by Gaga and award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, was featured in the documentary about campus rapes titled The Hunting GroundIt turns out Gaga's involvement in the song might have been overstated. Singer, songwriter Linda Perry took to Twitter last night claiming that Gaga had very little, if anything, to do with the song's lyrics, but was recruited as a collaborator because Warren knew her involvement would guarantee promotion.

“Normally I wouldn’t respond to all this but I don’t know Im feeling spunky,” Perry wrote on Twitter. “There was another artist that originally was gonna sing #TIHTY… I have Diane’s original demo with her singing. The only line that has been changed 'Till you’re at the end, the end of your rope.' Originally was 'TIL YOU GOT A HOLE RIPPED IN YOUR SOUL.' So I guess technically one line was changed so sure Gaga possibly 'rewrote” a line.'” Linda insists there is no bitterness and that Gaga "killed this song" in her performance, but that she is "simply stating the truth." You can read all of Linda's tweets on the subject below.
