Kesha on Her Upcoming Court Date With Dr. Luke: "I Have Nothing Left to Hide"

After a lengthy, bi-coastal legal battle, Kesha is finally headed to court tomorrow (Feb. 19) for her suit against producer Dr. Luke. The singer recently took to Instagram and shared her feelings with her fans. "I have nothing left to hide," she wrote. "I did this because the truth was eating away my soul and killing me from the inside. this is not just for me. this is for every woman, every human who has ever been abused. sexually. emotionally. mentally. I had to tell the truth. so the outcome will be what it will be. there's nothing left I can do. it's just so scary to have zero control in your fate. but this is my path this life for whatever reason.... #Friday 🙏"

She added that her "nerves are going crazy," but she is trusting God in the matter. "Don't know where I'm going... please God guide me. #Friday 🙏"

Kesha has been involved in a drawn-out legal battle with producer Dr. Luke since the fall of 2014, when she sued him for sexual assault and battery. Luke quickly fired back with his own lawsuit for extortion against Kesha, a defamation suit against her mom, Pebe Serbet, and a suit against Kesha's manager, Jack Rovner. In the months that followed, claims of threats also surfaced. Then, in June of 2015, a Los Angeles judge ruled to put the case on hold, and the suit continued in New York as Kesha awaited a court date.

The most recent progress in the ordeal came in early February 2016 when a New York judge dismissed Luke's 2014 lawsuit against Kesha's mom and manager. Her mom celebrated the news on Twitter, writing, "Truth is powerful stuff!!" Kesha's original court date with Luke was pushed back, but is now set for Feb. 19 at Manhattan’s New York State Supreme Court. A #FreeKesha petition started by fans online pleads with Song Music CEO Doug Morris to relieve Kesha of her contract with her alleged abuser.

As part of the movement, the organizers of the petition are also encouraging fans to rally outside the court house in support of Kesha on the monumental day. Ultimately, the judge will rule if Kesha can be released from her contract that mandates she work with Luke. As previously claimed by her lawyers, Kesha's current legal battle has left her "at an impasse. She cannot work with music producers, publishers, or record labels to release new music."
