Here's Why David Bowie Once Turned Down a Coldplay Collaboration

Have to respect his honesty.

It turns outDavid Bowie once rejected Coldplay's offer for a collaboration. In a new interview with NME, Coldplay's Will Champion and Jonny Buckland reveal the late icon turned down the band's request because he didn't like the song at all.

Chris Martin wrote Bowie a letter describing their new song that called for a "David Bowie-type character" and asked him to join forces on the track. In response, Bowie said, "It's not a very good song, is it?" Needless to say, Bowie turned down the offer. "He was very discerning. He wouldn't just put his name to anything. I'll give him credit for that," says Champion. Watch the interview above and look for Coldplay to take the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 7.
