Taylor Swift's new song "Wood" is the ninth track on her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, and it's the shortest song. But what's the meaning behind the two-and-a-half-minute track? Some fans think it's about Travis Kelce's "manhood," and Swift's sex life with her professional football player boyfriend.
The Life of a Showgirl dropped on October 3, sending fans into a frenzy, parsing and trying to ascribe meaning to all of the lyrics.
TODAY pointed out that, when Swift announced she had a song named "Wood" on the Kelce brothers' podcast, they both laughed and Travis's brother Jason Kelce responded, "Nice!"
That said, the song leans more toward a theme of finding lasting love than purely sexual innuendo. The phrase “knocking on wood” frames the track around luck and longing, with lyrics that begin with a character named “Daisy” feeling unloved before shifting toward finally discovering real romance.
However, some phrases appear to have allusions to her sex life with Travis, or at least appear to tease a double meaning, such as when she sings, "New heights of manhood. I ain’t gotta knock on wood" and, "His love was the key that opened my thighs."
Some fans think that Swift referenced an old X post relating to Ariana Grande in the "Wood" lyrics. And E! News argued that the song represents Swift's most explicit lyrics yet. Page Six called it Swift's "raunchiest" track.
She also sings,

According to Page Six, Nicki Minaj is among those who see a resemblance to Jackson 5’s “Want You Back.”
