Today, more than a year after his death, Chicago police released footage showing a white officer fatally shooting 17-year old Laquan McDonald in October of 2014, according to CNN. Following mayor Rahm Emanuel's pleas for peace, the violent video quickly sparked protests throughout the city, and local rapper Vic Mensa was conspicuously present amongst the droves railing against the ongoing police violence.

In one video posted to Twitter, Mensa says, "We out in downtown Chicago right now. I just got hands put on me by police. We want justice for Laquan and we want justice for our people."
