Mariah Carey is currently tangled up in a legal battle with South American promoters over abruptly canceled tours dates.

Back in Oct. 2017, Mariah Carey took to Twitter to apologize to her fans in Chile, Brazil and Argentina for concerts that she had to axe from her "Sweet, Sweet Fantasy" tour. Mimi cited negligence on the promoters' part as the reason she would no longer be performing. She then sued the promoters, who go by Fenix, claiming they failed to pay her in full and damaged her brand as a result of the cancellations.

Well, the said promoters are reportedly hitting back with a lawsuit of their own. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Carey is being countersued by Fenix for allegedly dropping out of shows in Argentina and Chile inexplicably and without proper notice. In addition, they aren't too happy about Mariah putting them on blast in front of her 20 million Twitter followers.

Furthermore, the promotion company directly refutes Mariah's claims that she wasn't paid for the dates. Their countersuit alleges that Mimi received 75 percent of her agreed upon performance fee ($703,100 to be exact), which was always standard practice whenever they've worked together in the past.

Fenix is seeking at least $3 million for the fee she was paid for the performances and “irreparable damage” to their “reputation among both concertgoers and musical artists.”
