Tyler, the Creator made the last-minute decision to perform at Kendrick Lamar's Pop Out concert on Juneteenth.

The Chromakopia rapper is the new Billboard cover star, and in the accompanying profile, he reflected on appearing at the Pop Out, held in Los Angeles after Kendrick and Drake's diss track saga.

Although Tyler once booked Drake for a Camp Flog Gnaw set in 2019, the two-time Grammy winner explained that he couldn't miss Kendrick's show. Among those who also performed during the Pop Out were Roddy Ricch, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Blxst, and Mustard, who introduced Tyler as a special guest.

"I wasn’t even supposed to go — I was in Atlanta working on this album," Tyler told Billboard, referring to his eighth LP. "But I landed that morning and couldn’t miss this shit."

He continued, "And I don’t even get FOMO at all, nigga — I’ll go to sleep. But I’m cool with Kenny and Dave [Free] and Tim [Hinshaw] from Free Lunch. So I went home, showered and ran straight there."

During the Pop Out, which was livestreamed on Amazon Prime Video, Tyler performed Call Me If You Get Lost track "WusYaName" and "Earfquake" from Igor.

Kendrick was previously a co-headliner of Camp Flog Gnaw in 2023 alongside Baby Keem as The Hillbillies. Tyler also took part in the set to perform the duo's self-titled track.

The latest iteration of CFG was held in November, which Tyler also discussed with Billboard. "Outside of sports stuff, it felt like L.A. didn’t have something that was its own thing," he said. "I’m happy that Flog Gnaw has folks from the city feeling like this is theirs. At least that’s what it feels like every year."
