T-Pain paused his Mississippi concert last week after the crowd's behavior became a major distraction.
The R&B artist was performing at the Mississippi Valley Fair on Thursday night, August 1, when attendees began throwing items onstage. In response, T-Pain halted the show to address the crowd.
"As a motherfucker that turns 40 this year, I'm not obligated to stay up here while motherfuckers keep disrespecting me," Teddy Pain said in the clip below. "I'm trying my best to ignore the shit. I'm trying my best to just let it go, but it's just, you know, after a while it's like...you know? I wanna keep going, I wanna keep having fun, I fuck with most of y'all. It's only a few pieces of shit out there, you know what I mean? We're all having fucking fun."
"I'm not saying that I want to leave. I’m not pissed or anything, but it’s only so much shit I’m going to [take],” T-Pain said as the crowd continued chanting his name. "I’m not a fucking clown. I’m not gonna sit up here and get pies thrown in my face."
"Again, I appreciate y'all coming out this motherfucker," the two-time Grammy winner went on. "And I don't wanna leave halfway through. I really don't want to, trust me. But I can't stay out this motherfucker and keep getting disrespected. Do y'all wanna keep going?"
Despite the disruption, T-Pain continued with the performance. The General Manager of the fair, Shawn Loter, indicated that he may take legal action against some of the concert attendees for that behavior in the future.
"We’re gonna sit down after this year’s fair and really come up with a game plan to try to make because it’s a big safety concern," Loter said, per KWQC. "You know, people don’t know you throw stuff up in the air, you know, and it comes down and hits somebody’s head. So you get caught doing it, you know, I’m probably gonna press charges. I mean, you’re hitting somebody with a weapon so it’s gonna come down to it."
Since the show, KWQC reports that signs have been placed at the east entrance of the stage pit, reading, "For the safety of our patrons and entertainers, no throwing of any objects will be allowed. Patrons caught throwing anything will be escorted off the premises by security."
