Approaching 30 years in prison, Yolanda Saldívar, who killed Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla in 1995, seeks to be released on parole.

A close family member of Saldívar recently spoke to the New York Post about the 64-year-old, who's serving a life sentence in a Texas prison. Before murdering Quintanilla in March 1995, Saldívar, who will be eligible for parole next month, was president of the singer's fan club and manager of her Selena Etc. boutiques in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas. The fatal shooting occurred two weeks before Quintanilla's 24th birthday.

"Enough is enough," Saldívar's relative told the Post. "She feels like she’s a political prisoner at this point. She’s ready to get out of jail, because she believes she has more than served her time."

Last year, Oxygen aired a limited docuseries titled Selena and Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them, where Saldívar claimed that there was more to the story of Quintanilla's murder.

Before the singer's killing, Saldívar was alleged to have embezzled $30,000 in fan club fees. During a meeting where the Grammy-winner intended to retrieve tax documents from Saldívar, she was fatally shot, after which Saldívar barricaded herself in a pickup truck for nine and a half hours. Towards the end of the standoff, Saldívar surrendered after threatening to kill herself. She was charged with first-degree murder but pleaded not guilty, with attorneys claiming that the shooting was an accident, with Saldívar intending to kill herself. But Saldívar never attempted to aid the singer after she was shot, nor called 911, the prosecutor noted.
