The woman who allegedly shot the Los Angeles home of Rihanna has entered a not guilty plea on multiple charges, including attempted murder.
According to Associated Press, the suspect, 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, pleaded guilty to the aforementioned charge, in addition to ten counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and three counts of firing at an inhabited vehicle or dwelling. Ortiz’s plea was entered by her lawyer, Deputy Public Defender Derek Ray Dillman, while the accused, who’s a resident of Orlando, stood in an adjoining custody area. The woman also waived her right to a speedy preliminary hearing.
Dillman requested that Ortiz’s bail be reduced from $1.9 million to $70,000 considered her ability to pay, which was declined by Judge Theresa McGonigle. The prosecutor contested the reduced bail request, deeming Ortiz a dangerous person.
“This case involves a dangerous, deliberate shooting into occupied homes,” said Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott. “This is the kind of conduct that could easily have resulted in multiple homicides.”
Ortiz was promptly taken into custody after allegedly firing several shots at Rihanna’s Beverly Hills property on the afternoon of March 7. The nine-time Grammy winner, who shares three children with her longtime partner, rapper ASAP Rocky, was believed to have been inside the property.
On social media, scathing previous posts made by Ortiz about the Fenty Beauty founder surfaced. Court documents also show that the woman emailed her ex-husband about Rihanna, demanding that he “renounce” the singer and say that Ortiz was “better than her.”
“Let it be done. You gotta let me know so that door can be closed,” the email reportedly read.
