Pharrell Williams' 'Piece by Piece' Soundtrack Features New Tyler, the Creator Collaboration, Throwback Songs

Tied to his new animated biopic, 'Piece by Piece,' the film's official soundtrack will feature five new tracks.

It wouldn't be a Pharrell Williams flick without a soundtrack curated and executive produced by the 13-time Grammy winner.

On Wednesday (Oct. 9), Pharrell dropped the details of his upcoming Piece by Piece soundtrack, a companion album to his LEGO-animated biopic of the same name. Both the film and soundtrack debut on Oct. 11.

On the 21-track project are five new Pharrell songs, including "Piece by Piece," "L'EGO Odyssey," "For Real," "It's Happening" and "Virginia Boy" with Tyler, the Creator.

Additional songs that also make up the soundtrack are Pharrell-sung or produced classics, like "Happy," "Frontin'," Clipse's "Grindin'," N.O.R.E.'s "Superthug," and some timeless N.E.R.D. cuts.

Pharrell teased the soundtrack in conversation with Complex in June.

"Obviously, I always like to up my game. And I hit Morgan [Neville] (director), I'm like, ‘Hey, just so you know, I got another better song,’ and just sort of wrote to the same tempo, different chord progressions and a whole different song," Williams said. "But I just really wanted something that was infectious. I felt like the first one was good singer-songwriter vibes, which is what I've been on recently. But the second one is singer-songwriter vibes, but it's a bullet. It has that thing."

Directed by Morgan Neville (Won't You Be My Neighbor?, Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain), Piece by Piece retraces Pharrell's Virginia upbringing and career development that invites viewers "to turn up the volume on your imagination and witness the evolution of one of music's most innovative minds."
