Lizzo Says Her 'Weight Release' Journey Has Been Intentional, Recalls Body Changing 'Very Slowly'

The musician wants to show that "big girls can also be healthy."

Lizzo says her "intentional weight release" journey has lasted longer than fans have noticed.

The pop musician was a new guest on podcast On Purpose With Jay Shetty this week and around the 1:06:00 mark of the video below, she shared that people have thought her body changes have occurred "overnight."

"I have been on an intentional weight release journey," she said. "And I put it on the internet I posted about it like maybe a year and a half ago and I was like very clear that this time it's intentional."

While the musician has often shown her fitness and healthy eating habits, she admitted to feeling a responsibility to "show the world that big girls can also be healthy."

But Lizzo recalled her body changing "very slowly," believing that "nobody paid attention" until it was noticeable.

"So when I pop out on a red carpet or when a video suddenly goes viral and my body is different, it appears like it was overnight," she told Shetty. "It appears sudden. And I think that was shocking to a lot of people because now the headline is 'Lizzo's skinny,' which is a far cry from the truth because I'm not."

Lizzo then explored her "weight release goal," in which she didn't plan on being considered "thin." "I will still get trolled and talked about and the fat jokes will still be there, but I will be happy," she said. "And I said that because I meant it."

The four-time Grammy winner also said that she left a "paper trail" of evidence that she's put in work to get fit, as seen in TikToks.

Lizzo's former trainer, Shaun T, recently addressed the "wildly annoying" claims that the musician has used Ozempic. Refuting the allegations, Shaun told a TMZ reporter that Lizzo is "very fit."

Among those trolling Lizzo's weight was Comedy Central adult cartoon South Park, releasing an episode about her last year titled "The End of Obesity."
