Lil Wayne lamented not being included in this year’s Grammy Awards.
“Congrats to the nominees and winners. Wasnt included. As usual. I gotta work harder. As usual. One time for my slime Bill Beli,” the rapper tweeted.
The “Bill Beli” that Weezy appeared to be referring to was former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who the rapper spent time with at Chapel Hill last April. While visiting the North Carolina Tar Heels facility, Weezy was presented with a custom jersey emblazoned with his “Tunechi” nickname, per ESPN.
Although widely considered one of the best rappers alive, Lil Wayne has felt ousted by the music industry before. In 2024, the rapper expressed disappointment that he wasn’t selected as the Super Bowl LIX halftime performer, with the show going to Kendrick Lamar, despite the game being held in his hometown of New Orleans.
"I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown and for just automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that,” he said in an Instagram video posted in September 2024.
Possibly adding insult to injury, Kendrick won big in the rap categories at this year’s Grammys, including Record of the Year for “Luther” featuring SZA.
This year, Lil Wayne released his fourteenth studio album, Tha Carter VI, which garnered zero Grammy nominations.
