Kodak Black brought it home to Pompano Beach, Florida, where he was awarded a key to the city this week.
On Tuesday (July 8), the "Cluck" rapper was honored by Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin during a local ceremony. In an Instagram post showing Kodak posing with the mayor, along with his family members and supporters, the artist was recognized for "outstanding generosity and lasting impact on the community."
Through his charity foundation, Zachariah McQueen Foundation, Kodak has held holiday turkey drives, distributed bikes and gifts to local children, along with covering the rent of 200 Pompano families on two occasions. Notably, in 2021, the foundation partnered with Palm Beach County organization A Different Shade of Love to provide AC units to residents of Riviera Beach.
In his speech, Mayor Hardin said Kodak is "an individual whose journey from these very streets to international acclaim has been remarkable, but whose heart has never left this community."
Last month, Kodak held a Father's Day tailgate bash at his Blanche Ely High School alma mater, where local fathers and their children were granted free admission.
