James Blake proudly shouted out his longtime partner, Jameela Jamil, for her contributions on his new album, Trying Times. Now, the actress wants other men to notice Blake’s praise.
Jamil, who has been with the English musician for 11 years, is an executive producer on Blake’s seventh studio album. One Instagram post shows Jamil beside Blake at the keyboard, and in a comment over the weekend, Blake wrote that he was “completely in awe” of his longtime partner.
“For everyone here—without jameela this album would not be patch on what it is now, in its final form,” the artist wrote. “It’s impossible to overstate how much you’ve transformed these songs, and guided me to reach what I think is my potential.”
He continued, “That is what a producer and indeed what a exec producer does. Your intuition, your clarity and pattern recognition for music is the best of anyone bar none.”
The former A Good Place star wanted all to take notice of the “Death of Love” vocalist crediting her. Along with commenting that working with Blake was a “privilege,” Jamil screenshotted their interaction and shared it on Tuesday (March 17).
“YEAH I DID JUST START MY PERIOD AND WHAT OF IT? WHAT OF IT?!” the actress wrote of her emotional reaction. “Grateful for good men. Hoping the other men take notice. 💪🏾”
“A real man doesn't try to crush a woman's strength, he harnesses it so you both grow more powerful together,” she continued.
Blake noted Jamil was an executive producer on Trying Times in an interview with Rolling Stone and complimented the actress for her “impactful observations.”
“She would unlock things creatively, even back to Colour in Anything,” Blake said, referencing his 2016 album. “And then it ended up just being production, because she was then actually executing on it. And helping me get it there.”
