Rapper Infinite Coles didn't set out to offend his father, legendary emcee Ghostface Killah, on his recent viral singles.

In December, the queer artist will release their new album, SweetFace Killah, which features the titular track and "Dad & I," both of which fans misinterpreted as disses towards the Wu-Tang Clan member. In a new interview with BET, Infinite explained that wasn't the case.

“It’s no disrespect at all. My dad told his story on 'All That I Got Is You.' I’m just telling mine," Infinite shared, referencing the 1996 Ghostface and Mary J. Blige collaboration.

"What’s the difference? If something happened to him, I’d be devastated. And I know if something happened to me, he’d be devastated too," he continued.

The rapper said that all he wants is "respect" from his father, adding, "He doesn’t have to accept me, but he can love me as his son."

Elsewhere in the interview, Infinite revealed that in 2020, he was living in a shelter, calling it "one of the hardest moments" of his life. "But that’s when everything started to shift. I had nothing but time to sit with myself," he continued. "I started writing more, and I stopped caring about what people thought."

On "Dad & I," Infinite opened up about his estranged relationship with Ghostface, sharing that the two often don't see "eye to eye." "You never talk to me, said I'm not living right/ You tell me to man up when I put on makeup," Coles sang on the track.

Infinite, who previously accused his father of being a "deadbeat," told Vibe that he wants to "connect and understand" Ghostface
