Fivio Foreign wants a set during the New York Knicks championship parade after the team’s NBA Finals win over the weekend.
With the parade scheduled in the Big Apple on Thursday, June 18, on Tuesday, the New York drill rapper and producer tweeted his hopes to perform at the big event.
“Idk who need to hear this but I better b performing in that parade in NY on Thursday ‼️” Fivio tweeted.
As reports have detailed, the parade route will travel through Manhattan beginning Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a championship celebration and Key to the City ceremony at City Hall Plaza, hosted by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Along the way, a visit will be made to the Canyon of Heroes, where millions are expected to be present.
Mamdani has declared that while he wants the event to be a “safe and joyous moment for New Yorkers,” he knows many residents have “been waiting their entire lives for this.”
The Knicks’ NBA Finals win against the San Antonio Spurs comes after an 53-year drought for the team, who last won a championship title in 1973 over the Los Angeles Lakers.
While performances haven’t been announced for the parade, the Knicks received an outpouring of congratulations from rappers following their win on Saturday, with French Montana, ASAP Rocky, 50 Cent and Wu-Tang Clan showing love on social media. Mayor Mamdani even spoke to Complex News and crowned the legendary hip-hop collective among the most important voices in New York rap.
