Da Brat Says She Had to End 'Some Situations' Before Dating Her Now-Wife Judy

The rapper said she didn't "want to communicate" that she was seeing other people because she "might have lost" Judy.

Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca "Judy" Harris-Dupart, had to cut off old ties before going official.

The couple, who got married in 2022, were guests on the September 3 episode of podcast We Sound Crazy, and discussed their upcoming relationship help book The Way Love Goes, which releases in February.

Around the 1:03:00 mark of the video below, Da Brat said that the book is about their "lives" before Judy interjected. "It's me telling these motherfuckers how many people you was dealing with when we first got together. You act like that's not what was going on, but that's what was going on," she said.

"But you act like you ain't date 30 motherfuckers before I came along," Da Brat replied.

Judy emphasized that the relationships were "prior" to her dating her now-wife but said that Da Brat didn't "allude" to who she was seeing.

"Well, you know, I had to end some situations," the rapper said. "Anybody that's getting ready to date somebody and you know that that's your person, and you got other situations, you got to close out those situations."

Judy claimed that Da Brat didn't "communicate" to her that she was dating other people, and the rapper explained why. "I didn't want to communicate that, 'cause then I might have lost you."

She also recalled seeing that Judy briefly had a boyfriend, which made her "so fucking mad." "All you had to do was tell me you was moving on," Da Brat told her wife.

"How selfish is that? She wanted me to tell her that I was not pursuing her any further because she wasn't answering my calls," Judy said. "She couldn't even tell me that she was trying to close some things over there, which I would have been open to."

"I didn't know that," Da Brat claimed. "Nobody wants to take that chance if I feel like you my person. I didn't want to lose you like, 'Hey, bae. I'm trying to close out my other situations.'"

The conversation took a turn when Judy recalled that Da Brat had her fly to Atlanta but "didn't answer the phone" twice. The rapper said that the two connected on other occasions, which Judy rebuffed.

"I don't think you understand the magnitude of somebody leaving their home to go to a place and you not answering," Judy said.

"Babe, that happened like twice. What about all the good times?" Da Brat asked, adding that she had to "stalk" Judy's Instagram to ensure that she no longer had a boyfriend.

By the sounds of it, Da Brat and Judy had to resolve their commitment issues before going official in 2020, three years after they met. In 2023, the couple welcomed their first child together, True Legend, who was born via in vitro fertilization (IVF).
