D4vd has reportedly not been cooperating with police throughout the investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
According to People, a source connected to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the singer-songwriter (real name David Burke) has been uncooperative since the beginning of the investigation. The Withered artist reportedly has not been interviewed by police, although he is now considered a suspect in the case.
With the medical examiner's and toxicology report still underway, potential charges and an arrest has not been pursued. "We are working to determine if her death was a murder or something else," said the source, who added that police have determined spring as around the time Rivas died.
On September 8, the teen was found deceased, dismembered and decomposed inside of a plastic bag in the trunk of an impounded Tesla owned by D4vd.
At the time, the artist was on his Withered World Tour, although remaining dates were canceled just days after Rivas' body was discovered. In the same month, the LAPD served a search warrant at the Hollywood Hills residence that D4vd has since vacated.
The late teen was said to have often been at odds with her family and was reported missing from the Lake Elsinore area several times in 2024. Rivas Hernandez was last seen on April 5, 2024.
It was recently reported that the landlord of D4vd's former Hollywood Hills rental home hired a private investigator, who speculated that Rivas Hernandez's death occurred after drug usage gone awry.
The PI also disclosed that the Tesla was parked in multiple spots around the neighborhood before being impounded, and "heavy-duty tools and machinery" were found inside D4vd's former home.
