Coi Leray has admitted that during one of her most successful periods she was actually feeling at her lowest.
The rapper, who is gearing up to release new mixtape Pink Sweatsuits, discussed her viral 2022 hit "Players" while visiting Power 106 on Tuesday (October 28).
Around the nine-minute mark in the clip below, Coi shared how "proud" she was to have the song land her a Grammy nomination and Top 10 position on the Billboard Hot 100, although it came with some repercussions.
"What a lot of people don't know is when I did 'Players,' I was actually the most unhappy in my career," Coi told host Justin Credible.
"Everything was happening so fast, to the point where I couldn't even get in control of my own narrative," she continued. "And you know when you don't have control of your own narrative, you let other people tell your story, then everybody has [an opinion of] what they think of you."
Coi added that she's now in a "better space" and has learned to be "appreciative" of what she's achieved.
"Now, I want to document, like, the process," she explained. "I want to bring people actually into my world and let me tell my own narrative and while I have a big record, I don't want to just be like just a record."
The rapper now wants the public to focus on her "talent" and "greatness" instead of "negative BS headlines."
In June, Coi gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Miyoco, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Trippie Redd.
In addition to readying her upcoming new mixtape, Coi has been enjoying motherhood, which she regularly documents on TikTok.
The rapper, who is also the daughter of Benzino, is also rumored to be dating podcaster Justin Laboy.
