Clive Davis, founder of Arista Records and J Records, was admitted to the hospital this week for an upper respiratory infection.
According to TMZ, the legendary music executive, who oversaw the early careers of Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen and more, was admitted to a hospital in New York on Friday evening (May 29). A rep for the 94-year-old said the music executive would be released within 24 hours.
In 2021, Davis was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a neurological condition that causes temporary facial paralysis. The diagnosis led to a postponement of the second half of Davis' annual pre-Grammys bash, which is among the most coveted events of music’s biggest night.
According to Page Six, at the time of Davis’ diagnosis, the music mogul was being treated with antibiotics and steroids and was expected to recover in no more than 8 weeks. The 51st Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala was held in February at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where performers included Jennifer Hudson, Huntr/X and Olivia Dean.
Davis appeared to be in good health in a pre-event interview with Billboard and told the publication that he felt "alive and anticipated" as he approached the date of the gala. He last attended The Gordon Parks Foundation 20th anniversary dinner and auction in New York earlier this month.
