Chloe Bailey shared her pain of losing a woman she considered like a grandmother on Instagram Stories.
On Monday (December 15), the Trouble In Paradise vocalist posted about the death of the woman after a battle with cancer. While the woman is not identified in Bailey's caption, pictures and health details match the mother of Bailey's godmother/manager, Shermay Joh.
Bailey spoke about Joh's mother having Stage 4 cancer this past summer in a tearful social media post.
"You know my manager Shermay, who's my godmom," Bailey began. "Her mom, who's like another grandmother to me, she has Stage 4 cancer. It's been pretty heavy, because I'm really close to her."
Bailey's post on Monday about Joh's mother's passing featured photos of the woman in her hospital bed.
"I am grieving," reads Bailey's text. "I lost someone who is like a grandmother to me due to her fight with cancer."
The actress and singer continued, "God has called her home. Thank you for every memory, every smile, every prayer ... I will love you forever and ever."
Bailey's follow-up story showed a picture of the woman sitting in her wheelchair and waving to the camera.
"Rest in paradise my sweet angel," Bailey wrote.
Bailey, who's one half of the sibling musical duo Chloe x Halle with her younger sister Halle Bailey, often discusses the importance of family in interviews, as she's the aunt of her sister's two-year-old son, Halo.
In an interview with People earlier this year, Bailey described her nephew as "expressive," along with "so brilliant and smart."
"And I'm the one who does the silly, crazy stuff — acting like a clown with him," he continued.
