Charlamagne Tha God Thinks GloRilla Could Compete With Nicki Minaj in 20-Song Battle

His co-hosts were shocked that he said GloRilla's catalog can hold its own against Nicki's.

Although GloRilla is fewer than five years into her mainstream career, Charlamagne Tha God thinks her music can stand toe-to-toe with Nicki Minaj's catalog.

The rappers came up on the Thursday (Sept. 4) episode of The Breakfast Club when hosts DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Loren LaRosa and Charlamagne talked about Cardi B's recent Billboard interview.

While chatting with reporter Carl Lamarre, Cardi asserted she's still in the "big three" of current female rappers, although the other two artists weren't named.

Considering cultural impact and relevance, it can be guessed that Lamarre was referring to Nicki and Cardi's "WAP" collaborator, Megan Thee Stallion.

Around the four-minute mark of the video below, Charlamagne said that GloRilla's "in the big three."

"I don't know who how y'all how y'all mixing it up," Charlamagne said. "I just know GloRilla in there. Certified big three of this generation."

Charlamagne went on to say that, in his opinion, GloRilla replaces Megan in the top three conversation. Jess and DJ Envy said that Megan has faltered in consistency, recently leaning more on branding than music.

But Charlamagne returned to his thoughts on GloRilla, saying, "By the way, none of them have more records than GloRilla. None of them. And I mean that respectfully."

Charlemagne even debated that Glo is having a bigger moment than Nicki, who released her latest album, Pink Friday 2, in 2023.

"And, I mean, I could put GloRilla's catalog up against Nicki's," Charlamagne added to the shock of his co-hosts. "I think that's a good one. Yes, absolutely. GloRilla got joints."

"GloRilla got a lot of music," he added, noting that her debut album dropped last year. "But she's got a bunch of mixtapes that are like albums."

Charlamagne insisted that he wasn't talking about GloRilla versus Nicki in terms of music but urged the crew to consider the Memphis, Tennessee, native's catalog.

Envy countered Charlamagne's opinion by saying that Minaj has a "15-year head start."

"I can still get 20 records for 20 records. And I bet you'll be like, 'Damn, Glo,'" Charlamagne added.

While Glo may continue her hit-making streak, she's had 15 songs chart on Billboard compared to Nicki's 149.
