Chappell Roan, who's spoken out against disrespect from fans and paparazzi, thinks her fame would heighten if she were non-confrontational.

The Grammy-nominated singer recently spoke to BBC about her thoughts around fame, months after going viral for calling out stalker fans and a rude photographer.

"I was looking around, and I was like, 'This is what people are OK with all the time? And I'm supposed to act normal? This is not normal. This is crazy'," Roan told BBC about the experiences.

But Roan has the same perspective of not wanting her boundaries crossed. "I've been responding that way to disrespect my whole life - but now there are cameras on me, and I also happen to be a pop star, and those things don't match. It's like oil and water," she continued.

The "Good Luck, Babe!" singer joked that she'd be treated no better than a pet if she'd allowed herself to be insulted.

"I think, actually, I'd be more successful if I was OK wearing a muzzle," Roan said. “If I were to override more of my basic instincts, where my heart is going, 'Stop, stop, stop, you're not OK', I would be bigger.”

She added, "I would be way bigger... And I would still be on tour right now."

Roan, who's views on toxic fandom has been commended by Daniel Craig, shared in a message posted to Instagram last August that she refused to accept predatory behavior.

"I don't care that it's normal," she wrote. "I don't care that this crazy type of behavior comes with the job, the career field I've chosen. That does not make it ok. That doesn't make it normal."
