Cardi B haters couldn’t be more wrong about the rapper being “dumb.”
The Grammy-winning artist was on the Tuesday (March 31) episode of podcast Aspire with Emma Grede and was asked to speak on a misconception about her. Around the 1:20:00 mark of the episode below, Cardi shared her belief that people think she’s “dumb” or an “airhead.”
“Is it because of my accent? But it's like the best thing ever,” she told Grede.
The Am I the Drama? artist went on to explain that while some may think she’s oblivious, she’s mentally concocting her next money move.
“I'm putting plans together in my head, you talking to me and I'm taking my notes and I'm learning everything,” she continued.
The 33-year-old added that when she wants to get a grasp on a lesson, she’ll “study” it extensively. “When I want it, I have to have it and I will learn it.
I'll study it. I study who's great at it,” she said.
Cardi also compared herself to Kim Kardashian, who Grede co-founded SKIMS with, along with her husband, Jens Grede.
“People always talk about her accent like, ‘They're just so valley girls’ and everything, but it's like, that bitch is very fucking smart,” Cardi said.
The “ErrTime” artist, who’s Dominican-Trinidadian and hails from the Bronx, defended her “multimillion dollar accent” in 2024 after BIA referenced it on diss track "Sue Meee?"
"You should be home with your kids 'cause bitch, you speak like second grade," Bia rapped on the song.
In reposting a fan who purportedly called Bia’s verse “racist,” Cardi tweeted that she’ll “never change” her speech pattern.
“I became famous from that just being myself! Then I started making music and became a millionaire out of it,” she continued.
Cardi’s also dropped knowledge on various topics from hair growth to politics, debunking the misconception that she’s uninformed.
