Streamer, sometimes rapper, and friend-of-Drake BenDaDonnn went viral this week after his 2021 mugshot with his birth name surfaced.
A social media post sharing sharing a 2021 mugshot of the streamer, with his government name and date of birth, was shared on X last weekend, quickly garnering over eight million impressions. Responders quickly took note of BenDaDonnn's unusual name, Benius Beard, and some began to clown him.
The views and jokes got BenDaDonnn's attention, and he responded during a recent stream.
Ben hit back at the jokes about his mugshot and real name by asking, "Who the fuck cares?"
"People want your name to be 'Sam,' 'Mike,' 'Samantha,' 'Karen,' 'James,'" he continued. "What the fuck, gang? I don't want my name to be like y'alls. Is that okay?"
Ben added that the person who shared his mugshot was attempting to "troll" him but unintentionally "turnt" up the streamer's visibility. He went on to scroll through messages from those who joked about his name, including one by an X user named Anastasia, who had replied to the original viral post.
Ben called her "chopped," even though she was given a "pretty name" like the Disney princess.
Per court documents seen by Complex, BenDaDonn, real name Benius Martaize Beard, was arrested in November, 2021 for carrying a concealed firearm through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. He said, according to the affidavit in the case, that he "forgot the gun was in [his] bag." Florida prosecutors abandoned the case two months later.
The mugshot has been hiding in plain sight for years: Ben posted it to his own Instagram page shortly after his arrest, with his caption, as well as other comments, rallying for him to be released.
In August of this year, video surfaced of the actual event: Ben being confronted by authorities at the airport's TSA checkpoint after his gun was discovered.
